GLOBAL ECOLOGICAL AGREEMENT

The warning voices of the Green Parties and of the environmentalist ONG's of the world, have been supported by reliable scientific research demonstrating that the uncontrolled hydrocarbon consumption, along with the accelerated global destruction of forest ecosystems, have caused the global warming with severe climatic consequences expressed in more serious and frequent disasters such as great hurricanes, extreme temperatures, glacier melting , massive floods and atypical droughts.

Facing the generalized destruction of the tropical forests which are essential to maintain the climatic balance of the planet, and the exaggerated hydrocarbon consumption that overheats the Earth, the signatory parties of the Global Ecological Agreement have decided to integrate in a global effort to Work in coordination with governments, international organizations, academic institutions, political parties and the civil society in order to solve in unison the serious ecological problems that endanger the human species and all the bio-diversity of the planet.

Based on this we have decided:

1. To convoke the United Nations, asking this international organization to sponsor a world meeting, as soon as possible, in order to put together a Protocol containing the necessary lineaments to stop the destruction of the tropical forests of the planet, whose imminent disappearance will culminate in a global ecological chaos. As the site for this meeting, we suggest the emblematic city of Iquitos, located in the Peruvian rain forest and sailing entrance to the Amazonian River, but any other location could be feasible because the main objective is the prompt realization of the transcendental reunion proposed.

2. To invite the United States, and all the countries that have not yet signed the Protocol of Kyoto, to sign it in order to fortify the ongoing global efforts to reduce the CO2 emissions that are over heating the atmosphere and causing dramatic climatic changes.

The Federation of Green Parties of the Americas, during their annual reunion in the peruvian Amazon,
approved unanimous the promotion of this agreement.
