GREAT
VICTORY OF THE MEXICAN GREENS
IN CHIAPAS AND OAXACA.
- The Partido Verde Ecologista
de México got more than 14 % of the votes in the Chiapas
State, surpassing the party in the federal government. This ample
voting consolidates de Mexican Green Party as one of the main political
forces in this emblematic region that contains a most important
biodiversity in its ecosystems.
- The diverse ethnic groups
, in Chiapas as in Oaxaca, among the general population, voted enthusiastically
for the PVEM candidates, electing more then 150 Greens to occupy
town councillors, municipal presidents and congressmen in the States
of Chiapas and Oaxaca.
- This electoral results are
proof of the nationwide growing force of the Mexican Green Party,
which strengths with the victory in Chiapas and Oaxaca, two states
of the southeast that besides being considered very representative
of the indigenous culture, have in their territories a most important
natural patrimony.
